Charles E. Bedaux' Bronze Bust Back in Europe!
by: Jurrian te Gussinklo Ohmann

The famous bronze buste of Charles Bedaux has moved from Pasadena to Nunspeet.

In 1937, Charles Bedaux assigned the German sculptress Anna Hoefken - Hempel with three projects: a bronze bust of himself, one of his wife Fern and an abstract called "Love" as a wedding present for their friends, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

After Charles' death, Fern gave his bust to the American Charles English, then General Manager of the Bedaux companies on the West Coast, on the occasion of his 25th anniversary with Bedaux.

February 24, 2004, Mrs. Lucille L. Roberts, daughter of Charels English, handed the bust over to Jurrian te Gussinklo Ohmann, managing director of Bedaux B.V.

Annie Hoefken became famous as a sculptress amongst others for her busts of president Eisenhower (an assignment for the Adenauer government in Western Germany) and Pope John XXIII.
